Q & A
AFGHANISTAN: Should the U.S. begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan in July 2011, as proposed by President Barack Obama?
No. We should withdraw them now and use the $60 billion in taxpayer money being wasted yearly on this war to guarantee every academically-qualified student can obtain a tuition-free public education at a college, university or technical trade school.
IMMIGRATION: Should Congress allow illegal immigrants currently living in the United States to become citizens?
Yes. A majority of immigrants living here “illegally” are law-abiding, work hard, and make important contributions to the wealth of this country. Those who have established residency and/or are raising families should be allowed to become citizens.
GREENHOUSE GASES: Should Congress pass a plan that would force U.S. companies to reduce their greenhouse-gas emissions?
Yes. Special taxes on companies with high greenhouse-gas emissions would encourage them to invest in eco-friendly technologies that mitigate the harmful impact the waste byproducts of their profitable business operations have upon the environment.
MARRIAGE: Should Congress repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits the federal government from recognizing gay marriage?
Yes. This odious act should be immediately repealed. I don’t believe the government should ever have been given the power to deny consenting adults the right to marry someone they love and cherish. I strongly believe in equal rights for all.
PRIORITY: What problem will you tackle first if elected?
My first priorities are to create a single-payer “Medicare-for-all” type health care system; ensure every student is eligible to receive a tuition-free public higher education; and repeal all federal laws making it a crime to use marijuana and hemp.
INFLUENCE: Which special interests in Washington have too much power? Explain.
Private health insurance companies have way too much power. The health care “reform” bill passed by Congress forces millions of people to buy their inferior, overpriced policies and subsidizes their profit margins with $500 billion in taxpayer money.
